Karen was diagnosed with breast cancer on Thursday, July 15, 2010, after having a biopsy on a suspicious lump and enlarged lymph node.
Within the week, appointments were scheduled with a doctor in the Mayo Breast Clinic, a surgeon, and an oncologist to further diagnose the cancer and determine a course of treatment. The diagnosis was clarified as Infiltrating Ductal Carcinoma, grade 3, stage 2.
Within a short period of time, Karen will likely begin a series of chemotherapy treatments, followed by surgery and radiation treatment later.
